Firebird changes name to Firefox

As you can see on Firefox’s page, Mozilla Firebird changed its name. Ben Goodger has made an interesting blogpost why they changed the browser’s name (again).

I think the name Mozilla FireFox sounds quite nice. By the way, if you don’t know what a Firefox is, take a look at this picture.

Major problem with Firebird installer

Mozilla Firebird installer also has nightly builds. Yesterday, MozillaZine reported a problem with one of those nightlies. When you install Firebird, the installer wipes out your Program Files folder. Not so good. :???:

Ben Goodger wrote in his weblog how to solve this nasty problem.

Note that this isn’t a Mozilla Firebird problem. The FB installer causes this. And besides, if you don’t know what you are doing, you shouldn’t install nightly builds (those builds are made for developpers and testers). As for me, I always use one of the “zip nightlies“. Those are actually quite safe (but not suited for daily surfing though ).

Forbes.com: Building A Better Browser

A nice article about Mozilla Firebird in Forbes. (Just don’t read the stock quotes and those things, that’s the uninteresting part ;-) ).

Microsoft vs Lindows: 1 – 0

Today, a Dutch judge ruled that Lindows resembles Windows to much and that from now on, it is forbidden to use the name Lindows in The Netherlands.

How stupid can you be? When you write the names in full: Microsoft Windows and LindowsOS you can clearly see a difference!! Maybe the judge went blind for a couple of seconds :?:

I hate it when things like these happens. MS is the biggest and largest company, but they still want to attack their concurrents (not that they have any real concurrents). How lame is that!!

Firebird 0.8 will soon come out!

In his weblog Ben Goodger, one of the main Firebird developpers announced that Firebird 0.8 is going to come out SOON. Now I can’t wait anymore…

Alternate layout for Firebird users

This afternoon I designed a new layout. It’s a bit more classic than the standard layout. Like Reinier, I will not put a stylesheet switcher on this site. So you can only view the alternate stylesheet if you use FireBird, which is IMHO the best browser around. I think Mozilla users can also switch stylesheets.

A little note to the visitors with Internet Explorer: ditch IE. It’s buggy (don’t click here if you’r using IE!) and slow. Try Firebird for a change. In the beginning, it will be difficult (see: Introduction to Firebird) . But after a while, you don’t want to go back!
